Christopher Shields is Professor of Classical-Philosophy at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Lady Margaret Hall. His books include Order in Multiplicity: Homonymy in the Philosophy of Aristotle (1999), Ancient Philosophy: A Contemporary, Introduction (Routledge, 2011), and (with Robert mostrar más Pasnau) The Philosophy of Thomas Aquinas (2003). That Ancient Philosophy is a separate category from Philosophy General. That Plato is easier than Aristotle, that the pre-Socratics like Parmenides were exploring basic metaphysical questions, that philosophy is demanding and not soft as a Discipline.
