A whimsical book with poetry all about school. Every subject you can imagine from catching the bus on time to the pledge of allegiance to lunch money to friends and the playground. Shields does a great job capturing all different times of the school day in fun poetry.

I liked the formatting of this book. The book has so many adorable poems involving math appealing to a younger audience. The rhyming words, as well as the pictures in the book all, come together ideally. It's a fantastic book to have for my kids at home and my kids in my classroom.

Almost Late to School is a series of 22 poems written by Carol Diggory Shields. The poems in this book include Limerick, Concrete, and many others. These poems are cute and funny for children. The illustrations remind me of color pencil illustrations and mirror the images.

This book was about school, and the different things that children encounter on an everyday bases at school, but in poetry form. I liked how different this book was in using poetry instead of a regular book telling a story. The first thing that I noticed in the book was the diversity of the children in the book. I loved how not all the students were of one race or ethnic group. I loved how the author did that and when children are reading this book, I think that they will notice that. I also loved how colorful and bright the illustrations were, that’s another thing that will help keep children engaged in the book. I think that this is the perfect book to read to children in school because it is something that they can relate to in school.

Rhyming text describes six little wombats on a walkabout and a dingo with a hungry eye that captures them one by one until only two are left. These remaining two dig a pit and lay sticks over it, trapping the dingo, so they're able to rescue their mates and be "home for tea."

Lunch Money is a longer picture book to read to the early minds. But it is funny and can really grab the children's eyes with all the comedy in it. There is also a lot of different children in the book and no child would be left out of it.

The poems in the book are very cute and fun to read but they do not teach a child how to count money or tell time or do any kind of math. Time was mentioned at the beginning of the book and money was mentioned as well but not in a teaching way. This book would not be a good way of teaching children about math. When I chose the book, I thought it was going to help children learn how to count money but that was not the case.

Funny, short poems about bathroom-related topics - certain to delight kids and amuse grown-ups (there's nothing TOO gross).½

This is a very fun read. The beginning of the book has explanations of Australian words that will be used in the book. It also has pictures of items that each character is wearing and that character's names next to it. That is probably very helpful and also a good tool to help readers associate the items with their characters and help differentiate the wombats, since they all look similar. It begins with six wombats going on a walkabout and as they walk along, each wombat stops and is distracted by something. As each wombat leaves, we count how many are left all the way until there are only two. A dingo has their friends and they make a plan to stop him and get their friends back. The illustration is very cute. There is very good counting and rhyming for students to understand.

I like books that rhyme for early readers who can often memorize these types of books as they would a favorite song. This story fits the bill for fun and sing song verse that gets kids as into the beat as they are the story. The book is great for group reading with its large , bright, and fun illustrations. This is an excellent early reader for word family demonstration. The kids will love learning with the fun beat and theme about a party full of dinosaurs.

A rollicking fun book, the rhythm and rhyme is very well done. Be sure to practice the pronunciations before reading the rhyme so the rhythm isn’t interrupted by stumbling over dinosaur names. It is a favorite read aloud!

The story is about a relationship between the child and his grandfather. The story makes it seem as though the child is narrating the story when in fact it is the grandfather. The book promotes the development of positive and realistic self concepts.
