The Hard-Boiled Omnibus: Early Stories from Black Mask por Joseph T. Shaw, editor
Although the Hard Boiled Omnibus has stories by the authors that made Black Mask great, some of the stories were not great. This may be because I read the Big Lizard Book of Black Mask stories which is a wonderful compendium...the best of the best. Some of these stories paled by comparison.

However, it's a good sampling for those unwilling to invest the time to read the 1,100 2-columned pages in the Big Lizard book.
