Bishop Schneider is a humble and heroic witness to the truth and a courageous servant. His love for Christ and the Church is strong and deep and heartfelt, like St. Paul's. (Gal 2:11-20) To the various questions regarding the crises we face (relativism, secularism, modernism, indifferentism) he responds as a faithful pastor and a perspicacious theologian. I found myself inspired and challenged." - Scott Hahn

Corpus Christi is more of a conglomeration of thoughts about the importance of the Eucharist than an organic whole. The first chapter is the story of a family the author knew in Kazakhstan. The next couple of chapters are the author's thoughts on the proper reception of the Eurcharist (in the mouth, not in the hand), and then there is a chapter of excerpts from writers (particularly Pope Paul VI) about the importance of receiving in the mouth, then there are some prayers, and then some concluding thoughts. The overall whole is interesting, but I think Dominus Est is the better book.

Still, if you liked that book, or are interesting in Schneider or in current issues involving the Eucharist, you may way to pick this one up.

Dominus Est—It Is the Lord! is a very short, but important piece about the importance of holy communion. Schneider, a bishop in Kazakhstan whose family was deported by the Soviets from the Volga region to Central Asia, begins by relating the remarkable effort people went to just to be near a host, much less a priest, in the days when everything religious was forbidden. The rest of the book builds on this theme to discuss just important the Eucharist is to the Catholic faith. He places particular emphasis on receiving on the tongue while kneeling, a former norm that has long since fallen out of practice in many parts of the Catholic world. For anyone interested in the Catholic Church and the Eucharist, highly recommended.… (más)
