The Boy Who Cried Wolf is perfectly translated into American Sign Language with this American Sign Language compatible picture book. This is a wonderful tool to have in the classroom for hearing and deaf children alike.

“The Boy Who Cried Wolf” is a popular fairytale in which the big idea revolves around the consequences that come with lying. I really loved how this version of the story by Susan Schaller connected the reader to American Sign Language. This retelling includes a DVD that allows the reader to see the story signed in American Sign Language. This video allows the reader to learn sign “far beyond learning sign language vocabulary” according to the back cover. ASL Storytelling is huge in the Deaf Community so I appreciated being able to watch this video and follow the text at the same time. Secondly, the text is written in a way that can be easily translated into American Sign Language grammatical structure. For example, the sentences were short and simple for beginning signers to understand in the second language.… (más)
