Francesco Tatti da Sansovino (1521–1586)

Francesco Tatti da Sansovino was a Italian scholar and publisher. He was born in Rome in 1521, the son of the artist Jacopo Sansovino. He studied law at Padua and Bologna. He lived in Venice and was a prolific writer of books on Italian history, biography and literary criticism. He is best known for his 1581 work Venetia citta nobilissima et singolare, Descritta in XIIII. Libri, better known as Venezia Descritta. He died in 1586, while working on Origine e fatti delle famiglie illvstri d'Italia, a book about the famous families of Italy. Completing only the first volume.
