This little gem of a book filled with poems on the joys and struggles, celebrations and disappointments of motherhood, warmed my heart and reminded me of my own journey through motherhood. Not a book of poems based on imagery created to inspire visual images, rather, it is a book of poems created out of simple words strung together simply and without pretense to evoke emotions in the reader. I was reminded time and again of my successes and my challenges as a mother, a job under appreciated, yet arguably the most important one in the world.

As poem after poem chronicled what it’s like to be someone’s mother, I recognized my own similar emotions and experiences, as well as felt a sense of relief that I’m not the only mother who has experienced them.

Inspirational, relatable, and affirming, this book of poems provides mothers with the sense that they are not alone, and fathers with a deeper understanding of what it’s like to be a mother.
