While my better half and I don't have any children due to an involved genetic condition, I love the analogy that Robert Lloyd Russell is making here. Once a seed is successfully planted, it starts to grow before it can see the light of day. Then both require constant nurturing, a tree until it's recognized as a sapling, a baby until it becomes a young child able to do things independently.

A tree must be watered daily; otherwise, it might not survive. Likewise, young children need to hear their parents' words daily to learn things to thrive and develop properly into the Christians the Lord wants them to be. Young children are equipped to grasp and comprehend many new things through the repetition of things by their parents.

Through the pages of his book, the author presents his readers with the step-by-step development of their child infused with Scripture and what they need to do with each one. And by doing this, he is assisting parents in complying with Lord's command found in DEUTERONOMY 6:7 [NKJV]:

"You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."

For wanting to assist Christian parents in raising their children in a Christian manner, I've given Mr. Russell 5 STARS for his endeavor here.

In trying to be a good Christian woman [title of my blog], I am on a continuous journey of discovering and growing as to who I am in the eyes of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One of the main reasons I found this book so appealing is that I have unexpectedly already been on the journey to becoming the author's disciple in this book.

Anyone who has read my blog will notice quite quickly that I'm definitely not complacent in the type of individual I'm striving to be. In addition, I am also not neglecting the importance of what I am doing in trying to be a good Christian woman.

In this book, author Robert Lloyd Russell lays out the framework in becoming a disciple of our Lord; the framework takes the shape of a pyramid, where each level is dependent on the previous one in getting successfully completed before an individual can proceed to each consecutive level until the pinnacle of discipleship gets obtained.
The simplistic style of the author's writing makes it an easy to comprehend instructional guidebook in becoming a disciple of the Lord instead of merely being a devoted follower. While, after reading this book, I might, in theory, already be a disciple, inwardly, I don't feel if I'm ready actually to be one.
For wanting to assist those interested in becoming a disciple in becoming one, I'm happy to the book's author, Mr.Russell, 5 STARS for his endeavor here.

First there was Tozer with The Knowledge of the Holy, and then Packer gave us Knowing God, and now Russell has taken us further with God Light.
There is a tremendous need for a book on this subject. We have witnessed the publication of many books around the statement “God is Love,” but I cannot recall ever seeing one around the statement “God is Light.” It is important that these two attributes of God be brought into conjunction with each other because it is really impossible to discuss love intelligently without understanding light.

One Precious Pearl
by Robert Lloyd Russell
Infinity Publishing
The US Review of Books
reviewed by Maggie Harding

"'The pearl is the only gem that is perfect without additional work by man.' Discover what the precious pearl is."

In One Precious Pearl the author clearly demonstrates that, though Biblical principles are simple, they are not simplistic. Anyone can understand the concept of a man seeking pearls and finding one so precious that he sells everything he has to buy it. But, I believe, it is God's desire that we delve into His word in order to go beyond the obvious so that we can know Him better. The author presents several versions of what the pearl represents. Is it Salvation? Is it the Kingdom of Heaven? Or is it the Church, the body of believers in Christ? Digging more deeply into the content and context of the parable of the precious pearl reveals the many layers that lie beneath the apparent interpretation.

Too often religious leaders are willing to accept doctrine based on phrases in the Bible that are not only out of context but also fail to consider the constancy of God's character. This has lead to the formation of many denominations as well as many false sects that attract CINO's, Christians in name only. Just as cultured pearls mimic natural pearls and can mislead even the most accomplished gemologists, so false teachings mislead many who consider themselves to be Biblical scholars.

Russell is an accomplished writer who has taken some difficult concepts and presented them in an informative and interesting way. Whether you are a believer or a seeker, you'll never look at a pearl the same way after reading One Precious Pearl.
