Crystal Rose

This kind of had meet-cute vibes with a little more steam. Anna and Jaris are just so cute together, and were obviously meant to be. I really appreciate that we're dropped right into the middle of the story and get to skip some of the less-pleasant bits (like Anna's initial kidnapping). I totally understand having serious social anxiety, and having it melt away when you meet the right person, so while I liked both Anna and Jaris, I think I could identify with Jaris a little more. The story is a quick read, and moves along smoothly. You could easily read this in an afternoon or if you set aside enough time before bed.… (más)

Well, not so fun after my 4th re-read.

There's a lot of banter in this book and it used to be my favorite thing about it.
This time around though, I noticed there was a lot of "like a girl" insults. I was set on ignoring it (even though the more I read the more I noticed them and the more pissed off I got), but then came the sentence that started with "we're maybe gay, but we're still men enough to..." and that was it.
I'm not sure what the writer intended with this kind of wording, but I won't be able to re-read this book anymore without seeing the ugliness.… (más)
