The book Taste describes one of the five senses. Some foods can taste good or bad. Food can tasted salty, sweet, strong, and sometimes like nothing at all. There is a scientific description in the back with a labeled picture of a tongue. This helps the reader understand the different parts of the tongue and what they are used for. I give this book five out of five stars because Maria Rius does a good job of describing what taste is in a simple way with several illustrations. I like how she highlights the vocabulary words such as: tongue, taste buds, sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and saliva. I would use this book in a science lesson to introduce the five senses. I think this book is appropriate for K-2 grades.

This book is about eye sight. It talks about the different things we do in day to day life with our eyes. I talks about things we look at, such as real life events, animals, colors, weather, different sizes, books, night and day, etc. It shows the different things we look at and that are present in our lives, and that are relatable for young children, which I see as very beneficial. In the back of the book, it also discusses the different parts of the eye, with a diagram picture and explanation. This is great for kids to see and interact with.

Summary: This book is written for beginner readers. Although it was very simple, I thought it described taste in an accurate way and provided students with a tangible way to talk about what they tasted. I also felt like this book was a good introduction into teaching about how to use adjectives in writing.
Thoughts: I may not use this book as a teaching tool for all students, but I would like to have this series in my classroom. I think some students would find it very interesting and it is a good level for beginning readers.
Use/Strategy:
- Teach about adjectives
- Senses
