- Henia Reinhartz, née Rosenfarb, was born to Jewish family in Łódź, Poland. Her parents were Simma and Avrom Rosenfarb. After Nazi Germany invaded her homeland in World War II, she was forced into the Łódź Ghetto and later deported with her older sister Chava to the death camps at Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. She and Chava survived the war, but lost their parents. Henia moved to Paris, where she earned a degree as a Yiddish and Hebrew teacher and met her future husband, Norbert (Nochum) Reinhartz. The couple emigrated to Canada in 1951 and originally lived in Montreal. They married in 1952 and moved to Toronto, where they had two children. Her memoir Bits and Pieces: A Memoir (French translation, Fragments de ma vie) was published in 2007 by The Azrieli Foundation Holocaust Survivors Memoirs Program.
