Not every book will be a reader's cup of tea, I felt that way about Lucy on the Wild Side. There was nothing glaringly wrong with the book. The protagonist was too angry and too combative with her relationships for my taste. There were times when I yelled at the phone to stop! (I listened to the Audible version).

That said, the story was cute, and predictable to a fault - girl is a mess, meets a stunningly handsome tv personality, is rude and obnoxious to him based on misconceptions, falls for him, and poof - done. Okay, there was a lot more substance than that, but if you read any of my reviews, you know I am not a fan of the eye-rolling everything works out in a neat little bow ending.

Lucy on the Wild Side is clever and entertaining - just maybe don't listen to it. Perhaps the 'anger' doesn't come through as much on the page.

(Of note, I liked the book the farther I was from it. When I first finished, I was going to rate it lesser, but after a couple of days of reprieve from the protagonist's over-the-topness, I feel a 4-star better depicts the work overall.)… (más)
