- Jacqueline Raoul-Duval was born Lily-Khayat Bonan in Sfax, Tunisia, to a Jewish family. She has lived in Paris since 1961. She taught high school history and geography, and then earned a masters degree in psychology and began working for a publishing house. She has been a literary editor and translator of Italian works into French. Her first book was the text accompanying photographs for Voir Tunisia (To See Tunisia, 1974). Her novels include Le Charme discret de l’adultère (The Discreet Charm of Adultery), Un amour amer (A Bitter Love). and Kafka, L’éternel fiancé (Kafka in Love, 2011). In 2015, she published her memoirs, Nuit de noces (Honeymoon).
