Personal Thoughts: I have never read a book with more exclamation points than this one. It was driving me crazy. Otherwise, I thought this book had good things and bad things. It was a good introduction to the design process. I liked how it was tied to STEAM with the way the information was organized in each chapter. I liked how wonders were covered on many continents. I liked the honesty about the dangers of building them and that people actually died. I liked some of the ways that the audience was pulled in. Some of the questions were silly but some made me stop and think for a moment.

I disliked the Great Wall of China chapter the most. There was no photo of the Great Wall of China and I expected a picture since it's still standing. I would have liked a line following the Great Wall from space so I could confirm if the other parts I saw were actually wall. I thought the discussion of the Silk Road was not completely clear, and the giant photo of the desert was misleading since very little was mentioned about trade (which is a 5th grade standard)!

I thought there should be maps in each chapter that better show the area, especially in the Panama Canal chapter. The map of the Suez Canal was larger than the Panama Canal, and there was no map to show how narrow that area is compared to the rest of those continents. As in introduction, I thought that should be included.

Is designer the right word? Why not architect?

There is definitely a lot to talk about -- this could make an interesting Parent Child Book Chat book!

Frame: it builds as you read it in order, but I think some information is missing from the Great Wall of China, such as an explanation of the feudal system

This is a simple board book. I wished it rhymed, but it just talks about various drums, and where they came from. The book is okay, but a little long for a board book.
