Mitch Prinstein

Fascinating book on what it means to be popular and whether it is something that will make us happy. Prinstein draws on neuro-science, sociology & psychology. One-third of the book is taken up with an index of relevant research, showing that the author has done his homework.

It was a book that made me think & reflect. Prinstein seems to be asserting that the way we react as adults is based on our formation as adolescents. Well, he’s done his research, though my gut tells me we begin forming identity from the moment we become conscious, and, as in ‘Groundhog Day’, we can be given the same set of circumstances, but by readjusting our attitude & response we can change the outcome, and it’s a lesson we learn & re-learn throughout life.
