Further Adventures in Japanese: An Advanced Course,… por Hiromi Peterson
Having rapidly gone through the first volume of Adventures in Japanese, I decided to make a dash for the Further Adventures volume as well. Definitely this one is at a different level of toughness altogether, but the first chapter indicates that the main challenge will be to learn and internalize the stream of new Kanji, as well as the specific turns of phrase and expressions used in the real world language. Having gone through the seven chapters, I can appreciate this approach: learn new kanji and vocabulary, demonstrate their use through sample sentences. My presumption is that a thorough drilling in these sentences, both spoken and written, will in time result in internalizing of both the kanji and the words in real-life usage.… (más)
A beautifully composed language primer for schools, this boo introduces the basic grammar and some 50 Kanji characters. There are many notes on the quirks and specialities of Japanese life and culture, supported by engaging cartoons and photographs. However, I personally feel that it would be difficult to actually get a grip on the language through this engaging approach, and I personally benefited from the more copious explanations and technical notes of a standard textbook line Genki I and II.
