I love reading about her life and family on the farm. She’s an amazing person with a great outlook on life.

A fascinating life and an honest account of farming life.

The second book by this engaging and energetic author. The wife of a Yorkshire farmer, and the mother of a large family, Amanda leads a very busy life rearing her children with her husband Clive, playing a major role in their farming activities and being constantly involved with community life. Her descriptive passages provide a great insight to farming practices and the often harsh environment in which they farm. Another enjoyable read.

One cannot but admire Amanda Owen. She, her husband and family live in a beautiful part of England, but have to endure harsh winters on the Dales. She is not a trained wordsmith, but has written a lovely book about her early life and how it has changed since she moved to live at Ravenseat and married. She has produced a large family, seemingly effortlessly, and is very involved in their business of farming the land and caring for their children. I cannot wait to read her second book.
