The Courtship of Sea Creatures por Jean-Pierre Otte

Originally written in French, this is not a romance novel about marine biologists.

It's a guide to the mating habits of the creatures that dwell in tide pools - clams, oysters, mussels, urchins, cuttlefish, crustaceans, seaweed, etc.

Very well written, but I think that in places he tends to suggest similarities between the mating rituals of humans and creatures, describing emotions and sensory experiences that the creatures probably don't experience.

An enjoyable read, though.… (más)
