This is Professor Luke O'Neill's diary about the first year of COVID; the highs and the lows and watching him watch for the science to happen was interesting. He was on the TV in Ireland a lot talking about the science of dealing with COVID and he had enthusiasm and interest in people understanding, a true educator. There were highs and missed events and a multi-million sale of an invention during these days and his reactions, while more than likely heavily edited came across as honest and heart-felt.
A book to add to the history of this time for the next generation.

I listened to this on audiobook and it was refreshing to listen to a scientist (an immunologist no less) talk on the history and importance of vaccines. To give hard facts that any rational person would find it hard to argue with (they still will though).

O'Neill approaches the science of the subjects he covers with wit, composure and his trademark optimism (along with many pop culture references as the title of the book included). The 'difference' between men and women discusses societal pressure and expectations; the chapters on crime, addiction and depression acknowledge the role of upbringing, privilege and access to resources.

However for some of these topics the complex nature of them can't just be answered with science. And I think that is the point in all this. Science can only take us so far... we ourselves must be willing to take the next steps.

Quite a lot of bollocks beyond the title, opinions snuck in as "consensus". Pointlessly angry.
