From the Introduction:
"Recently the term 'sustainability' has become so popularized and commercialized it is hard to know what it means, if anything at all. We offer this course as an opportunity to move beyond the hype to explore sustainability more deeply.
"The authors included in the course examine sustainability from individual, societal and global perspectives. The readings are intended to invoke meaningful discussion. Each week as you meet with your discussion group, we invite you to bring your own experience and critical thinking to the process. Whether you agree or disagree, you will have an opportunity to clarify your views and values. Ultimately, we hope this process inspires you and others to make choices to live more sustainably.
"The course is comprised of seven sessions, designed for weekly discussion. Each session includes readings, questions for the group, a 'Putting It into Practice' list of suggested actions and 'Further Readings and Resources.' The course also includes an Action Plan to guide you in putting sustainability into practice.
