Phoebe North

Terra's mother a baker dies of cancer at the end of a 500-year trek to a new planet for a group of Jews, leaving her with her father and brother. Terra is an artist, but upon school graduation is assigned to work for the botanist. She witnesses a murder and joins the Children of Abel, who are rebelling against the strict rules of the council. A bit slow, some tortuous love stories, and an ambiguous ending make this 2.75 stars.

I usually like space dystopia/post-apocalyptic stories, but this was a little stranger than I was expecting. Once I got more into it and changed my expectations I liked it a little better, but it was still rather strange.

Interesting concept, interesting characters, but so short that it fell short. It ends so abruptly and I'm unsure if there will be follow-up.

It started off like a good book but I didn't like how the events happened and what caused them.
