2675 Christian Pilgrimage in Modern Western Europe, by Mary Lee Nolan & Sidney Nolen (read 17 Nov 1994) This is a very analytical and even-handed study. It is truly amazing the work the authors did to compile this book. They have inventoried 6.150 shrines in Western Europe, and catgorize them in various ways. One way is: Significant Sites, Ex-voto Shrines, Devotional Shrines, Found Object Shrines, Acquired Object Shrines, and Appartional Shrines. I found myself very interested in the subject of this book, and though the book is in no way 'devotional' I found myself wishing very much I could go to the shrines which are so numerous in Europe.
