Arnold Newman's work in the tropical rainforests of the world spans four decades and 42 countries. He has been an adviser on forest conservation to various governments and is founder of the International Society for the Preservation of the Tropical Rainforest, Africa Tomorrow (addressing mostrar más sub-Saharan famine), the Cathedral Rain Forest Science Preserve in Costa Rica, and the Fossil Ridge Paleontological State Park in California. He was host and science producer of The Elementary News, a four-time Emmy Award-winning television series on KTTV, Los Angeles. Newman's photography has been exhibited worldwide at museums of art, including the Smithsonian Institution's traveling exhibit Tropical Rainforests: A Disappearing Treasure, and has appeared in many books and publications. Newman is the author of The Lungs of Our Planet: The Tropical Rainforest (MIR Publishers, 1989). He was awarded a Congressional Acclamation for his work; received in 1994 the Southern California Motion Picture Council Humanitarian Award for "Outstanding Contribution to Humanity"; and was conferred the National Humanitarian Award in 1995 honoring "America's Best Role Models." mostrar menos
