Although this small biography is aimed at a Juveniles audience, it contains some excellent information about Sarah Keys Evans, the WAC who was arrested while in uniform when she refused to move to the back of a Carolina Coach Company bus traveling from Fort Dix New Jersey to North Carolina. The ICC ultimately ruled that buses (and trains) traveling across state lines could not discriminate against blacks by forcing them to move to the back of the conveyance.
