Surprisingly enjoyable and readable. My sister gave me this book as she was moving countries and knew I was nostalgic fo Sydney. Enjoyable coming of age story with a focus on complex family relationships an friendships.

Surprisingly readable. A good first novel. Characters and settings very reconisably Australian, without being corny. What makes it so Australian? ... The relationship of the characters to their physical environment, particularly their love of the sea. One character makes the insightful and comment that the coast is urban Australia's dreaming. With all of the time I spend at the coast (even though I live inland, I agree.
