Montzalee Miller

This book is about a young Native American girl whose grandmother had a tribal cookie jar. She would stay up and stare at the cookie jar, as she felt it was staring right back at her. Soon, her grandma would come and tell her stories about their tribe. When her grandmother died, she wanted to keep the tradition going with her own children one day. I really liked this book because I feel as though it brought up how to deal with grief and the matter of cultural backgrounds in a way that would keep almost anyone's interest. This book would be appropriate for grades 2-4. I feel it has too much grammar for children younger than 2nd grade, but it would get boring for children over the age of 4th grade.… (más)
