In Star Wars Memories: My Time in the (Death Star) Trenches, Craig Miller recounts his years as the first Director of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm between promoting the release of Star Wars in late 1976 and then managing the publicity campaign for The Empire Strikes Back in 1978-1980. The book is a great collection of Miller’s reminiscences from his time at Lucasfilm, many of them offering different perspectives from some of the now-legendary tales about those early years in the Star Wars fandom. It’s also a great look at one aspect of fan culture from a time before the internet made it easier for genre fiction fans to keep in touch and before Hollywood took genre fiction as seriously as it does now. Miller includes plenty of photographs, both of the people he worked with and the items he worked with in helping to oversee some of the licensing agreements. Star Wars fans and film historians will find this an enjoyable read.… (más)
