AnnieKMD | Jul 26, 2023 | New FBI agent Claire Wolfe is trying to stop a cabal of serial killers. This book has big shoes to fill as the first 2 in the series were edge-of-your-seat, can’t-put-down page-turners! In comparison, this one is more of a slow build up. Parts of the story are a little nuts but it’s fun, and the writing flows easily so that it reads really quickly. I look forward to the next installment!

AnnieKMD | Mar 3, 2022 | This is an excellent second installment to the series! We start out following up where we left off in You Made Me and take off running right away. So far, both of these books in the trilogy, I have not been able to guess the ending! In addition to excellent twists and turns, there's just enough relationship building between the characters that it's not the focus, but you start to love and root for them, sometimes even the bad guys! Can NOT wait for #3!!

Amy_Webb | otra reseña | Jan 24, 2022 | The first few chapters artfully integrate a summary of the events that took place in the prior book (You Did This, which was excellent!). So, the book can be read as a standalone, but I think that it would be much better appreciated having read the first book, notably in relation to optimally understanding our protagonist (a smart female detective) and her back story. As with the first book, this one is well-written and fast-paced with a lot of suspense. The story is about a detective and her team trying to identify a creepy murderer before he strikes again, but it’s hard to know who can be trusted. There are a few subplots including one on our protagonist working to salvage her relationship with her mother, and another on our protagonist’s CIA-boyfriend trying to identify prior murder victims. I like how the short chapters alternate between the subplots, with most chapters ending with a cliff-hanger. It makes for addictive reading! This book’s murders seem a tad more gruesome than the first, and there are some uncomfortable scenes, but the author doesn’t dwell on these. And though the story can be a little far-fetched at times, I look forward to the next installment!

It is a fast read, full of twists & turns. Though I had suspected the ‘big reveal’ early on, it did not detract from my enjoyment of the story. If this ever gets made into a movie, I vote for Melissa McCarthy to play Beth!
I was provided with an ARC (thanks to the author & publisher!) and I am voluntarily posting my honest review.… (más)
