- With a practice of more than 20,000 patients, Dr. Metzl is widely known for his passion for sports medicine and fitness. His focus is to safely return athletes to the playing field of their choice and to keep them there. In addition to his busy practices in New York and in Stamford, Connecticut, Dr. Metzl is an award winning author and medical columnist for Triathlete Magazine. His books include The Young Athlete (Little Brown) and The Athlete’s Book of Home Remedies (Rodale).
Regularly voted among New York’s top sports medicine doctors by New York magazine, Dr. Metzl takes care of athletic patients of all ages and lectures and teaches extensively both nationally and internationally. Dr. Metzl appears regularly on media programs including the Today Show and Good Morning America, and in print media including the New York Times, discussing the issues of fitness and health. Dr. Metzl is also the sports medicine consultant to the Radio City Rockettes.
In addition to his busy medical practice and academic interests, he practices what he preaches. He is a former collegiate soccer player, a 30-time marathon runner and 10-time Ironman finisher. He lives, works, and works out in New York City

Now I know, exercise takes a while, being sweaty is unpleasant, I am so busy; there are as many reasons to not exercise as there are stars in the sky. However, research has shown time and again that exercise is the most fantastic thing you can do for yourself.
Dr. Jordan Metzl puts together a prescription for almost any sort of ailment you might have. Now, since the man is a doctor, he does include a point for when you should see a practicing physician. Although the book is packed with practical advice, it is not a replacement for a doctor visit. The disclaimers at the beginning of the book make that abundantly clear.
All in all, this book is really inspirational and informative. Even if you are a couch potato, there are plenty of reasons to stand at commercial breaks or just be more active.… (más)
