S. W. B. Menaul

An "official history" of the British nuclear deterant as deployed on the v-force bombers valiant, victor and Vulcan. The author was an air vice marshal in bomber command and this is account of how Britain prepared to fight using atomic weapons dropped from aircraft up until 1968 when Polaris became officially operational. It is not a warts and all account in Menaul's words "All objectives were achieved and no difficulties were encountered ". None the less it is still an engaging read even though I do find my self thinking of the Austin Powers films with Union flags stuck on everything including mushroom clouds… (más)
