Really good account of an area in SW Utah that covers a lot: history, mythology, environment, cultures, land use, etc. Makes me want to visit the area (without disturbing anything). I'm really interested in the ancient pueblo cliff-dwellers right now. It is shocking how so much of the sites were looted in the early modern days and even in the sixties and seventies. This book was not an easy read with so much detail but it's worthwhile if you are interested.

An excellent overview of the history of this county. The major characters, Anasazi, Utes, Navajo, Mormons, and their contributions are covered. The societal development and interaction of each of these people's is described as they moved from colonists and tribesmen to citizens. Because there is so much history and the author's space was limited it does feel somewhat incomplete and rushed but still serves as a valuable introduction to the topic. I've given this an extra star for the bibliographical information alone.
