Read this for work. McNair Brown flips our white supremacy thinking to show how black and brown students can succeed in college. Disaggregating statistics is key instead of lumping all non-white students into one pot, which means we must identify accurately the racially minoritized students we are serving. Another memorable phrase from the book--whiteness is the enemy of equity. This is a huge concern in all areas of our world right now. I feel like my eyes are being pried open.

This small book encourages colleges and universities to become focused on meeting the needs of today's students. It offers key qualities or characteristics of institutions that can be effective at educating today's students. The book provides broad principles rather than specific details or nuts and bolts, but it does provide case studies and examples to illustrate how the principles can be put into practice. I found the bibliography to be helpful.
