A thank you to my good friend, Terris, who steered me to this short story by Shirley Jackson and reminded me why I loved her in the first place. All recovered from my disappointment with The Sundial now that I have read this wonderfully eerie piece.

Extraordinary short story. Shirley Jackson is a very gifted writer. Must read.
