Another instance of Disney recycling as this is an abridged version of Pooh's Favorite Things about Spring by Kathleen W. Zoehfeld. The art is the same in both books, but one them must have an editorial error as the original attributes the interior art to Robbin Cuddy and this one credits it to Elisa Marrucchi with a Robbin Cuddy cover. Oops!

My original review of Pooh's Favorite Things about Spring: "Another one of those nothing stories where Pooh awakes to the first day of spring and walks around the Hundred Acre Wood singing and meeting his friends one by one before inviting them all to a big picnic party. Ho-hum."

The edits here don't do anything to improve upon the original, and anyone who likes the song Pooh sings throughout will be disappointed to find that this version is missing an entire verse.

(Pooh Project: Phase 2! I've managed to catalog all the shorter Pooh projects my family owns (see the list here). While I work through few remaining longer Pooh books we own, I'm missing my daily dose of Pooh, so I'm going to start seeking out some of the Pooh books I don't own – yet – from libraries IRL and online. See the reviews here.)

Pooh, Piglet and Roo persist in knocking at every door of a house in the Hundred-Acre Wood even though no one is answering. Weirdly, since it is a lift-the-flap book, the reader opens each door for the characters to show no one is there, but they politely do not enter the house to look around, they just go to the next door.

The solution of the missing occupant is pretty obvious from the start for devoted Pooh readers, but it is still amusing to watch it unfold.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:

I found this book to be a great engaging text for my student at Graceland, who loves princesses! Each page includes one sentence about a different Disney princess and her birthday experience. Every two sentences rhyme and there are plenty of picture clues on each page to help the reader fill in words they might not know or are struggling with. This could easily lead to a writing activity about celebrating birthdays and what the reader's favorite part about his/her birthday is.
