Jeez, where to start? It was a bit of a train wreck, so let’s start with the good:

Likable characters, for the most part.
Decent premise.
Innovative world building.
Took place in Seaside, OR. A place I’m very familiar with. Which was a bit of a plus and a minus. As, some things were inaccurate if you know the area. ie. There are NO commercial flights to airports near Seaside. Not within a two hour drive anyway. *snorts*. Stuff like that.

The bad:

Hooobuddy, was that editing abysmal. I mean to say, I’ve see bad editing and this is right up there with the best (worst) of them. Wrong words, extra words, doubled up words, wrong uses of words, MADE UP words. I’m serious, words that aren’t even actual words. It was (to use a cliche’) a Hot Mess!

Stamper? NOT a word. Stammer, yes. Your heart can stammer, it cannot stamper. The only way “Stamper” is a word is as a noun, a person who stamps their foot. It is not a verb. Ever.

I’m guessing “unloved crimes” was really supposed to be “unsolved crimes”. This one threw me for a minute. I was trying to figure out which crimes are typically “loved”...

ADJOINING, not conjoining! Adjoining is connected to, conjoining connects other things/places. FYI. You know, for future reference. Not only is it a mistake, but repetitive. *sighs*. The author repeatedly uses this word, for some crazy reason, when she means adjoining. Like adjoining rooms in a hotel. The en-suite bathroom, that sort of thing. She likes the word a lot, but rarely uses it correctly.

In short: You cannot go wrong with a decent editor, but ANY editor would be nice...

Lastly, there were some awkward moments. “Super duper awesome sauce”? Good grief, who wrote this? When? And, for who was it intended? Because, that was just cringeworthy.

In short, if she’s had a decent editor for this book, it probably would’ve gotten 4 stars. But, it was so riddled with errors and rubbish that I was generous with the two stars. For the characters, the premise and the world building effort, I gave it all I could.
