Michele Marineau

This story has a modern-day spin on the classic story of Cinderella. As we are lead on a journey, Marineau uses urban terminology and current household items to create the story. Instead of a pumpkin and a mouse, the fairy uses a tomato, vanilla yogurt, and a dog to recreate the traditional tale. The pages are filled with abstract illustrations, which is on par with the modern chic city fairytale. This is such a refreshing twist on the storybook classic that makes the book engaging for all!

Les lecteurs au secondaire peuvent s'identifier avec une variété de personnages et de situations, tels qu'un nouvel élève à l'école, l'image de soi, les relations d'amitié et d'amour et les problèmes de famille. Le roman présente parfois des expressions québécoises qu'il faut expliquer aux élèves (par exemple, une polyvalente est une école secondaire).
