Though I enjoy the story lines of these works I am afraid the typographical errors are beginning to ruin the reading of these.
That being said my original review which this now replaces pointed out one in particular which stated that colonel was spelt incorrectly 6 times. Who better to correct me than the author himself who pointed out that the word used in the book was the Spanish spelling.
As a result I am more than happy to put my review up to 4 stars and I promise that I will do more research into perceived spelling mistakes by any author in future before I let it disrupt the enjoyment of a book

Following on from Rise to the Call, Cris de Niro and his watchman agency are back, when one of his own men has disappeared, de Niro is worried and has to call in a lot of favours from prominent statesman to achieve his goal. De Niro also receives a call from an old Korean War hero to help protect his granddaughter from the hands of a gang leader .

Again the master story teller has the reader enthralled and involved in the novel . The author knowledge and research is evident thorough out and adds spice to the adventure .

The characters resolve show that through the trial and ordeal, friendship and survival are the most important things in every one lives. The contacts de Niro has to use show when you do someone a favour on it's return it comes back twofold.

In the book the different ideologies that the main protagonists have shine through, but as you make an enemy a friend it shows that respect and tact can win the day.

Another masterpiece from this author. The way the characters are growing is amazing but you also develop your own personnel attachment with each one .

There is more emotion felt in this book as you really find out what a true leader Cris De Niro is and what he feels about all the people who work for him are worth.

This author is now on my reading list along with Lee Child, Peter Robinson and Ian Rankin.

Gerard opens his novel straight into the mystery and intrigue of the story drawing the reader in and wanting more, he seems.to be well versed in the political relations between international countries and the state of their capacity of arms and nuclear threat.

A first rate story of espionage, hostage taking and the hunt to rescue them. When their son fails to contact his parents, on his mothers birthday, they become worried. Not really knowing what or who their son is working for, they approach Chris de Niro for his help through his independent wealthy funded agency. Once approached de Niro takes up the challenge which leads him into confrontation with the Russians and Iranians and has to work quietly and quickly to avoid the possibility of another world war.

The writers style of writing is unique, by using plain and simple language with excellent explanations of his abbreviations he takes the reader on a roller coaster ride, no matter which character you are following you feel that you are there right beside them sampling the atmosphere that has been created

A real page turner with a twist on every page which enhances the mystery and keeps the reader hooked and absolutely craving for more, the only disappointment being is that the book has to finish.

When you discover a new author you will almost always be disappointed with one of their books, not in the case of Gerard de Marigny, his novels are going from strength to strength. It's no secret that I am now a big fan of the author and I am sure as more readers start to read his books he will be on everyone's list and will be on a few more best sellers list.

I eagerly awaited the second instalment of the Watchman Agency and Cris de Niro and I was hooked and enthralled within the first few pages. Gerard de Marigny has now matched my other favourite author Lee Child and the Jack Reacher series.

The Watchman Agency receive a tip off that the Mexican drug cartel are planning to wipe out the 'Shadow Wolves' border control in order to have a direct route to the USA for drug running. De Niro feels obliged to help due to the Shadow Wolves help in previous successes in The Watchman of Ephraim. The agency face an added problem, the drug cartel have paid government officials to help them. The corrupt officers have taken over the Shadow Wolves reservation and imprisoned all the inhabitants. Can De Niro and his men take back the reservation, stop the drug cartel with government help and upsetting the political situation between Mexico and the USA. Please remember the Watchman Agency is an independent organisation, funded by Cris de Niro and have no official status in the law, they were set up to prevent another 9/11 attack on the USA.

While the agency are busy with the Shadow Wolves, Cris is asked for help by the man who made him all of his money to help rescue some hostages from Somalian Pirates. Can the agency release the hostages safely. The agency also need to prevent a shipment of missiles to Venezuela, where backed by a rich Iranian they want to sail up close to the American Coast, launch the missiles and destroy the USA. The Watchman Agency is stretched to the limit, can De Niro, with all his resources, succeed?

The author brings to life the issues and threats that the modern world face and dominance of world power certain segments desire. This is an excellent novel, the emotions that the author draws from the reader are unbelievable. The scenes and characters are described not just in appearance but what they are thinking and feeling, this is why I rate the book highly. I am eagerly awaiting BOOK III, RISE TO THE CALL.

Although this is the second book it could be read on its own due to the fact that the author explains and links it very well in the first chapter to the first novel, The Watchman of Ephraim, enabling the reader catch up on events.

A successful hedge fund entrepreneur is on his way to meet his wife, who is pregnant, at the twin towers. Disaster strikes as two planes crash into the towers killing his wife and unborn child. He makes the decision that this can never happen again and decides to recruit the elite from the marines, secret services and government to set up an independent agency to ensure the terrorists never succeed again.

Whilst setting up the agency, an Iranian businessman along with a Mexican drug cartel infiltrate the new agency by buying one of the board members, but when an undercover agent, from the agency, goes missing, then turns up dead, the bribed board member panics. What is the real reason for the link between the Iranian and the drug cartel? Can the agency find out who has betrayed them and discover the link? Is it a question of National Security? Can they react in time to save the country?

For a real page turning thriller with twists and one which keeps the reader hooked, read this book. Billed as a thriller and page turner, the book definitely did not disappoint. The story kept me on the edge of my seat with no idea which way the plot was going to turn, which is exactly the type of book I love.

The storyline and research shown throughout the book was first class, you really feel the emotions of all the characters and really getting a real gist of how both sides felt. The writing style used was very easy to follow and digest, therefore adding to the excitement and tension that was created. The storyline is a very topical one which will provoke discussion to whoever reads it. I believe this is the most important part of any novel, the discussions afterwards, and I believe this is a book which will be wildly discussed which will in itself builds a good novel and one which will live on and on.

I can imagine each and every character as the author brings every one of them to life and you can imagine yourself in the background, whether it is the boardroom scene or when he is describing the ranch the hero owns, again first class and superlative.

This is a book I will be definitely recommending, as a debut I found it to be absolutely amazing. I think I could read a lot more of the authors writings. A first rate, excellent and up to date thriller, which will, and should, cause a great debate about the issues of the storyline for a long time to come.
