I spent a sizeable percentage of my monthly allowance on this book in October 1990, when I was 16 and had just started to explore the world of industrial and electronic music. It, and the music of Einstürzende Neubauten, had a profound and lasting influence on me. (It also did much more to improve my German than the textbooks at school.) Of course it's a quarter century out of date by now (or twenty years if you have the second edition from 1996), but as a resource on the first decade of EN it is invaluable. (I am aware that it may just be nostalgia speaking, but then I never claimed to be objective.)

For a more up-to-date history, I recommend Max Dax' interview book Nur was nicht ist, ist möglich (No Beauty Without Danger in English). For the lyrics, I recommend Blixa's anthology Headcleaner.… (más)
