It all starts when the genteel but impowerished heroine (Tabby) is traveling to her new position as a governess. On the way she has to stop at an inn for the night, but is told that its full. Luckily she manages to spot an old aquitaince and tells him of her problem.

Turns out he was supposed to meet a friend there, but the friend didnt arrive. And as he has no intention to stay the night-she can have the room.

Relieved Tabby accepts and goes to bed. But unawares of the changed circumstances the missing friend arrives and is shown to the room and summarily gets into the bed. Only to find it already occupied by our heroine.

The man (Vivian Sanders) is not displeased with this.
Mistaking her for a lightskirt he kisses her,but is soon disabused of his notion.

In the morning the heroines continues on her journey but cant help but think of that rude man.

She hopes she will never see him again!

But of course this is a historical romance so she will.;)And the misunderstandings will become even bigger when other characters get involved.

This is a light and to tell the truth at times silly book. Yet I liked it. It works if you read it as a farce and doesnt take it too seriously.

This is one of those romances where there are two couples (wich the blurb fails to mention)

I liked the first couple Lord Vivien Davenham (loved the unintentional humor caused by his absent manner) and his wife Lady Thea. They have been married for some years but are still childless because of Misunderstandings.

Then there is their (yes all of them are related by blood)handsome cousin Malcolm Calverly, who is returning from abroad and sets off the plot.

Lord Thea is delighted since he will surely lively things up,but her husbandLord Davenham cant help but suspect that his wife always had a soft spot for Calverly and would have rather married him.

Then Calverlys love interest to be appears on the scene and I was like "why oh why" She is one of those unbearable feisty characters who are constantly having a mischevious glint in their eyes.

I cannot say how much I dislike this kind of character.Oh and she is named Tilly Bagshot.

.....

Also she is a shop girl (of sorts)I couldnt help but feel that this could only lead to heartbreak on her part.

Malcom is not better as he just came across as shallow and one-dimensional. Not to mention he is actually considering seducing Thea.

I skimmed through the rest of the book wich means every time Tilly and Malcolm were in the scene.

I was glad to see that Lady and Lord Davenham had a happy ending though.
