The truth is, I didn't read all of this book, because the level of ignorance displayed by the author in regards to the Irish famine was so mindboggling, I didn't think I could take anything he wrote seriously. The Irish peasants, he asserts, should have planted corn when the potato crop failed. Perhaps he should consult some basic histories of the famine, and some basic agricultural textbooks, before making such a bold statement. After all, as a Briton, he should be aware that the Crown was exporting all other foodstuffs OUT of Ireland - these people already were growing other crops but it was being sent across the Irish Sea.… (más)
