2930 Anastasia: The Lost Princess, by James Blair Lovell (read 19 Nov 1996) This book is about Anna Anderson, who some thought was the Grand Duchess Anastasia, and her husband Jack Manahan. They led a very eccentric life--their home in Charlottesville, VA., was a total mess. She died Feb 12, 1984. He died Mar 22, 1990. He was always very odd, and did crazy things. A large section of this book tells of the author's effort to determine if there was a fifth daughter, born in 1903, which was gotten away from the Czar and Czarina and raised by a Dutch couple. The author of this book is convinced that Anna Anderson was Anastasia--and in fact this makes the book less convincing. The book does not cover anything about research after the Soviet collapse which tends to show that all the family died at Ekaterinberg. This was not a good book, but it was worth reading and told some new things.… (más)
