Crazy book which advocates surrendering the US to the overwhelming violence of the cartels and ongoing bribery at all levels of civil and political corruption. The author has an ivory tower conception of the power and ability of Mexico to curtail or stop the Narcos. The author also has grave concerns for the environment in drug smuggling and Narco controlled the areas on translational borders. Obviously outdated and supremely unserious. Not recommended, as this old style investigative journalism sees itself as objective when reporters have never shown themselves as anything but ideological.… (más)

I received a copy of this book from the Early Review program.

Like several other reviewers, I expected a more biased viewpoint about immigration but the author does a good job of describing several issues with the border including the fence, Mexican drug cartel violence, drones, the northern border with Canada and the huge amount of money spent on all of these things. She asks great questions: what are we getting for all of that money? What are the goals of border security? Well researched and well written book about border issues in general.… (más)
