Second volume of graphic novel adaptations of the Lovecraft's short and less known stories.

Same as for the first volume art is somewhat of the mixed bag but in overall it is good. Every artist managed to make Lovecraft's creepiness and horror palpable and truly disturbing. Again stories are very much of the same structure so my advice is to make this read count, do not try reading it all in one sitting because effect will be watered down. Reason is simple, we are "bombarded" with similar stories through books, TV and movies all the time so that awe moment will definitely be missing. Remember this was not the case when stories were written so idea is to savor them and read them over longer period of time.

My only issue with this collection is that few stories end on a weird note - I had to check if I was missing pages.

All in all good collection, recommended to fans of horror and Lovecraft especially.

Interesting collection of graphic novel adaptations of the Lovecraft's short stories.

Art is a mixed bag for me but in overall it is good. Only thing that might cause the "problems" here is that all stories are written in the similar manner and so after a while there might be a feeling of saturation. This happened to me when I read Conan anthologies - stories that were very much written in the same way might bore the modern reader (since now we have similar authors and stories published every so often so there is no that awe moment present) so my advice with works of this type is to spread it across longer time period (which is the way they were published and meant to be read).

So all in all good collection, recommended to fans of horror and Lovecraft especially.

Maledetto il terreno dove morti pensieri
vivono in corpi estranei…
… e maledetta e’ la mente
che non e’ racchiusa in testa alcuna. (copertina)

Il modello di Pickman

E’ qui che
vengo a catturare
il notturno spirito
d’antico orrore e a
dipingere cose che
altrove non potrei
neppure con-
cepire. (da qualche parte)

Dall’altrove

Che cosa sappiamo del
mondo e dell’universo
che ci circonda?
E’ assurdo quanto siamo
scarsamente dotati di
canali sensoriali e degli
oggetti che ci circondano
abbiamo una percezione
assai limitata.

Ho visto oltre
i confini dell’infinito
e ho evocato demoni
dalle stelle.

sapienza demoniaca.

registrare. Versi che riempiono
i miei sogni di terrore. (da qualche parte)

Volume 2 of [b: The Lovecraft Anthology|10191063|The Lovecraft Anthology, Volume 1|H.P. Lovecraft|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1337426778s/10191063.jpg|15090176] was far superior to the first.

The artistry of the comics themselves reminded me of the work of Dave McKean and the stories that were chosen were of a decidedly more obscure bend. Choosing tales such as The Rats in the Walls was rather inspired, as so much of it could be conveyed through the art rather than the script. The story, actually, appealed to me in comic form when I've never been a fan of it in general.

This is a good introduction to H.P. Lovecraft and his non-Cthulhu mythos stories. It elicits the cosmic dread while also showing that Lovecraft is capable of stories of a more fantastical bend (i.e. The Colour Out of Space) and the comics were both easy to read and fun to look at. Once more, it is a pleasure to see the more visual aspects of Lovecrafts works being played with in a way that isn't... movies of questionable worth.

Would highly recommend.
