George William Norris is an extraordinary man in American history and very few people know about his lifelong efforts to thwart the power companies and their attempted monopoly rule over one of our greatest assets: Hydro-electric Power. Without Senator Norris the Tennessee Valley Authority probably would not have been created and flood control would have been delayed until the 1970 or later. This man was from Nebraska and a republican but by 1923 showed a non-party attitude. The Senator held his principles above party and always attempted to do what was right for America and her citizens.

This book is now a rare find for my collection of biographies and American historical novels. It gives an insight to World War I era and the shenanigans of the 1920's. A really good look at how a few men of wealth and power held our government hostage until the election of Franklin D Roosevelt in 1932. Behind the scenes in all of this was George William Norris working for what was right and trying with all his might to correct the errors of the previous congresses. Senator Norris succeeded in many areas but his greatest deed will be the creation of the TVA and the conservation of our rivers and streams as they were harnessed for Hydro-electric power.
