Le Tourneau's second effort in this scale of history is better than adequate in portraying this Moroccan city's moment of glory. I left with a good idea of the pulse of civic life in an Islamic city, and that is a rare commodity in social history. The impression of the city or the culture has a tendency to be lost in a welter of details, when coming from other hands. Sady, this Uof O. production has a relatively poor map of this uniquely configured city. The translator deserves a bow, as well.
