See comments for Book 1. I read the two novels together as Father/Son Duet.

It's an emotional and beautiful second chance story. The two main characters, Dallas and Banks, can really raise all the emotions. This story hits on so many levels, from a second chance romance to the building and bonding of a new family. Every page has something almost magical to steal your breath and your heart. I was cheering for these two for a multitude of reasons. Their love, the kids, their families... just about everything. I wanted Banks and Dallas to have it all and when they finally do...it’s absolutely incredibly, beautiful. I liked the characters, Lane, Shaw and Keegan...but I got a bit tired of all the swearing. These men were all well-educated, intelligent men and I'm sure they had more of a vocabulary composed of more than just four-letter words. The story had good "bones". We have the story of these three men who are in love with each other but all needing to come to terms with turbulent pasts. One of them had the possibility of having everything to lose by just making his sexuality known, much less letting it get out that he was in a threesome relationship. Somehow, Lane, Shaw and Keegan manage to find acceptance with very little backlash, UNTIL...you knew there was going to be an "until" because up until now everything was okay, and things were going along way too well. This is where the angst comes in that went on a bit too long and introduced a ton more characters that we really didn't need that much of and was never going to hear from again. I felt what had been a well-paced story was suddenly bogged down by all this. The three guys did eventually have a very "happy ever after", and the story got the message across that love is love and that's all that matters in the end.… (más)
