Our fmc Ness starred on a popular teen drama 20 years ago, and is reuniting in the present day with her co-stars for a much-anticipated re-boot. The now-42-year-old Ness has been out of the entertainment business after her Dad/manager absconded with her money, leaving her in debt. While struggling to make sense of the betrayal and feeling embarrassed and ashamed, Ness cut ties with the formerly close group of young adult co-stars and tries to pick up the pieces and move on with her adult life. The re-boot gives Ness a chance to start acting again, to try to re-connect with those she was once very close with (including former co-star Hayes), and have some fun in the meantime. Then everything goes awry when the boat taking them to their island shooting location is lost in a storm. Stranded on an uninhabited island, the group has to figure out how to survive until their rescue. But with the former friends being together again for the first time in two decades, lots of past issues and unresolved feelings rise to the surface. Will they be able to resolve past hurts without killing one another, or will the island do it for them?

So, I was expecting this to be more of a rom-com with a strong focus on the present-day relationship between Ness and Hayes, but what I got instead was a rapidly escalating who-dunnit ensemble caper that focused a lot more on Ness as an individual and a lot less on her relationship with Hayes. That said, I really did enjoy the well-developed supporting cast, and Ness's re-connection with her co-stars and former friends. There's plenty going on while on the island that I won't spoil, and I didn't anticipate some of the twists and turns. I really enjoyed Ness's sense of humor, and appreciated that she's mid-life (as is the majority of the group stuck on the island). There's a nice amount of tension with being stranded on the island together, both emotionally and from the unfolding events that they must navigate. It was a fun ride to see if I could figure out what was happening and how it would all resolve itself. I've read this author before and I didn't fully enjoy her debut story (there were a few character issues I didn't like). Her second book is much better and I enjoyed it so much more, I'm glad I gave her another try!

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley, and the opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was trying to find the reasonable adults in the book. It felt like a farce even though it is a love story. Way too much social media

Title: Reasonable Adults by Robin Lefler - A Frosty Retreat from Adulting ❄️📚

Greetings, fellow book enthusiasts! 📖👋

So, here we have "Reasonable Adults" by Robin Lefler, and folks, let me tell you, this book is as refreshing as a crisp winter's breeze... with a side of comedy! ❄️😂 Big thanks to Netgalley for the ARC, which I ate faster than a bag of marshmallows at a snowball fight. 📚🍬⛄

Meet Kate Rigsby, the poster child for post-breakup chaos. After a relationship meltdown broadcast to the world, she loses both her almost-fiancé and her marketing job. But fear not, dear readers, for this story isn't about drowning in despair. Kate's off to an exclusive artists' retreat in the wilds of Canada, a place where she'll find herself knee-deep in specialty cocktails, meditation circles, and fax machines. Yep, Treetops is a time capsule from the '90s, complete with its own quirks. 🍸🧘‍♀️📠

Kate's new gig may be a frosty challenge, but it's also a hilarious adventure. She's got a boss who could make the Grinch look cuddly and a Goldendoodle for a bunkmate. Oh, and there's the not-so-off-limits coworker who's as hot as a mug of cocoa by the fireplace. It's like the setup for a rom-com, but with more snow and fewer clichés. ☕🔥❄️

But amidst the chaos, Kate discovers something beautiful. She starts to see her career and her life in a whole new light. "Reasonable Adults" is a witty, heartwarming exploration of the twists and turns life throws our way. It's about embracing detours and finding yourself just when you thought you were lost. ❤️📖🌟

So, grab your favorite blanket, brew some hot cocoa, and cozy up with this delightful read. It's a winter escape that'll warm your heart and tickle your funny bone. Robin Lefler @robin_she_writes, you've crafted a gem, and I can't wait to see what you write next. 📚🍫🌨️

Stay toasty and keep reading, ☕📚❄️

Kate Rigsby’s life is not where she had hoped it to be. She finds her boyfriend in an unprofessional position and ends up writing about it on her social media.

Now single without a job she must find away to survive or ending up going home to her parents .

Kate takes a job at Treetops Creative Resort which turns out to be nothing like she envisioned .

Can she make it at Treetops?

Reasonable Adults is a slow start but stick with it the book gets a lot better.
