The result of a collaboration between the filmmaker Harmony Korine and the painter Christopher Wool, this series of experimental images tests the limits of the pictorial and the abstract, pushing the boundaries of visual and textual narrative to extremes. Korine's photographs form the basis of an intense process of layering, drawing, overprinting and photocopying as each image is passed back and forth between the artists until the images are reduced to ghostly shadows beneath a barrage of scumbled dot-screens, random patterning and symbolic blurs and drips. Gradually the fragmented, distorted images serially mutate, attacked by a combination of mechanical and human processes, yet despite the violence exerted upon it, a vestige of narrative always survives.… (más)

Featuring demon dogs, spooky flying spirits and some pretty trippy colour inversions, Korine shot the campaign for Gucci’s 70s-inspired pre-fall 2019 collection at two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Pompeii and the Herculaneum ruins. Then, for this book, he edited, cropped, illustrated and distorted the images, creating an out-of-this-world experience.

These eight limited-run fanzines were originally created between 1992 and 1999 and were sold out of the Alleged and Andrea Rosen galleries in New York City. Collected together for the first time, all of the original content is represented—low-concept, hilarious juxtapositions of words; scribbles and doodles; lists; monologues; free verse; jokes; innuendo; and both fake and real interviews. They blur the lines between fantasy and reality, and are often prankster in nature and laugh-out-loud funny. With weird musings, fake celebrity gossip, and hastily drawn art, this collection is a must have for fans of the authors and lovers of pop culture.… (más)

Key Zest arises from Harmony Korine’s 2019 film The Beach Bum, which follows the misadventures of a poet named Moondog (Matthew McConaughey), a “rebellious burnout who only knows how to live life by his own rules.” Set in Key West, Florida, and also starring Snoop Dogg, Isla Fisher, Zac Efron, Jimmy Buffett, Martin Lawrence and Jonah Hill, the movie tracks Moondog’s comical mishaps and assignations, culminating in his unlikely fame after the publication of his memoirs, which are universally lauded and win him a Pulitzer Prize.

Key Zest is a collection of Moondog’s poems. Hilarious, preposterous and ribald, it includes such gems as “Alright, sunrise. / Let’s get this party started.” and “We can do whatever we want or nothing at all. / Eh, civilization.” Harmony Korine writes, “Moondog is the greatest poet in the history of Key West. I read a few of these pages and loved every minute of it.”
