This is the exciting story of Dr. Raymond V. Damadian and his discovery of the utility of nuclear magnetic resonance in imaging the human body. Known as MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) today, it has become the gold standard in brain and bone radiology. Dr. Damadian (who was one of my instructors in medical school) should have received the Nobel Prize.
