This book wasn't entirely what I expected. When I saw "interview", I guess I expected more of a question and answer format. For the most part, that was missing. Yes, there are a few questions posed by Julien but for the most part, the interview consists of The President talking at length while Julien records it. Julien is more of a biographer than an interviewer.

I also felt that I never really engaged with any of the characters in the book. It seemed like they were there solely as a vehicle for the author to get his points across about his beliefs on end time prophecy. I'm not sure it would encourage people to look into the Bible more or not. For some, I guess it would, but if the person wasn't already inclined to do so . . . I'm not sure.

It didn't really surprise me to find out that the author tends to speak/lecture on Biblical prophecy. I could see that influence in his attempt to write fiction.

Will post full review on December 15th. Here and on my blog matichuk.wordpress.com Suffice to say funny, insightful allegorical fiction. Not great literature but certainly on par with much popular comsumption (which I think was the point). I have more thoughts. Wait for it. Wait for it. hey we are in Advent, the season of waiting. Jesus is coming. Wait for it. Wait for it.

Story felt forced and did not flow as other books in the supernatural genre. The author breaks the book up into short stories followed by a lecture on Christian beliefs. The format of the book only serves to disengage the reader. A more skilled writer would have been able to write the novel as one continuous story with Christian acts and beliefs demonstrated through the actions characters of the story. The author's style of stating the beliefs rather than expressing it through the story itself has less of an impact on the reader. The author has replaced the term "sodomy" with "homosexual" implying that these terms are interchangeable which they are not. Not all Christians are in agreement on this and it would have been more accurate stick to the original biblical translations rather than insert today's political terms. Sodomy is a particular sexual act that is not unique to homosexuals; sodomy can easily occur between a man and a woman.… (más)
